The colour of our food can help with our health issues and promote good eating and assist in dieting. And it’s not just the food that have benefits, the plates you eat from will have a major impact on your eating habits. Let’s have a look at some of them?

Vegetables grown above the ground usually have more vibrant colours such as the greens, reds and yellows. This is because they have more access to direct sunlight. Remember that old saying “An Apple a Day Will Keep the Doctor Away”? Looking at the green colour above you can see that green foods are excellent for detoxing the body. Cucumber, broccoli, apples, celery, green tea and spinach are all great detox foods that help remove unwanted toxins and build a stronger immune system.

When you need a burst of energy try eating a red apple or an orange as this boosts your energy very quickly and will give you that much needed burst of energy.

White Plates: White plates do not detract from the colour of your food, plus white contains all the colours so it beneficial for you.

Red Plates: Red plates will make you want to eat more as the food looks more vibrant and hotter. Restaurants typically use a red table cloth and or walls to enliven the experience and the company, this improves the eating experience.

Blue Plates: If you want to lose weight, then blue is the colour to eat from. Blue makes the food seem colder and less interesting and therefore you are more likely to stop eating sooner or to leave a lot of food on the plate.

Green Plates: Green makes food look vibrant and has that vibe of healthy eating. This is a good plate colour to use on a diet as you will eat more reds, greens and yellows and you will feel powerful and healthy in the process.

Colour Cards for on the Go:

Another fantastic way to top up your body using colour is to have a set of colour cards. Normally you will have the 7 rainbow colours to start off with and as you progress you can add other colours or shades of colours to the pack. To use just select the colour card that you want to use and sit quietly and just stare at the colour card. Use intention to activate the colour and direct it to the part of the body that needs a quick refresh.

Another very old saying “Seeing Red” meaning that he or she is fuelled up or full of energy and ready to kick off.

One way of using the red card to give you a boost of energy is, if you are slow to get up in the morning and like to keep hitting snooze on the alarm clock and this slows your day down:

Take the red card and put it beside your alarm clock and when that buzzer goes off hit the snooze button – then just look at your red card for about sixty seconds, after a couple of days you will find that the red colour boosts your energy and you are ready to go meet the day head on. You can do this anytime, in the office, before or after a sporting interval or to give yourself a boost when walking, jogging or running.

I hope that this article will spur you on to research the colours around you and how you can reap the rewards of excellent health for you and your family.
