Crystals and our Wellbeing

Crystals have been part of our lives for hundreds of millennia when primitive humans wore them as amulets for protection and to ward off evil spirits.

As time has progressed many different civilisations around the world have valued their beauty and special properties from the Sumerians, Egyptians, Greeks, Romans, Chinese and Native Americans, amongst others.

In modern times, many holistic healers have used crystal healing to improve their lives. Crystal healing can be beneficial for physical, mental, and spiritual wellbeing.

Even scientists, such as Nicola Tesla, believed that the properties had the potential to carry an electric charge. Much of his studies into crystals are used by crystal healers these days.

What makes a crystal special over and above other pebbles and stones?

Crystals are formed by the natural alignments of minerals over time. They are always arranged in an organised way and are built up slowly. The structure or lattice of a crystal creates an energy field within and around it.

When a crystal enters your aura, it can change the vibrations of your aura slightly and this aids the healing properties of crystals.

Crystals are not harmful. They bring comfort and healing properties through the intentions and affirmations placed in them by the crystal healer.

Crystals can build up a tiny electric charge across some of the planes within it when it receives a physical blow, is rubbed, or twisted. The opposite can also happen if a crystal is placed in an electric field, that is, it may bend and flex in a minute way. This is known as the piezoelectric effect which is used in watches and clocks.

The more a crystal is worked and handled, the greater the electric charge will be. Even a minute amount is enough to make a difference and may cause a tingling effect when handled by sensitive people like crystal healers.

When crystals grow into specific shapes, they allow the energy to flow along the lattice. This makes each crystal contain potential energy that can be energised by intent.

Intention is focusing your mental energy on a particular crystal or stone. You can charge a crystal personally by holding or rubbing it as your own internal energy crosses from your aura into the crystal. The longer you own a crystal, the stronger it becomes over time.

Not all crystals are made from the same elements and each one is helpful for different reasons. To make use of the healing power of crystals you need to understand the purpose of each crystal and what type of energy it has.

How can crystals help us in our daily lives?

Crystals may be placed near to you in a room or on your body as jewellery in a pendant, ring, or earrings, and immersed in your personal energy field (aura).

People these days often keep a crystal in their pocket to help them in their daily life.

Crystal healing is non-invasive and uses a holistic approach to wellness. They are usually charged or programmed, then placed on your body or around your body, usually pointing towards the area that needs healing.

It is the energy field that emanates from the energised crystals that may heal your body, spirit, and soul. Crystals may heal through their presence and may be used with other healing modalities like Reiki, meditation, and aura cleansing.

Crystal healers may help other people and bring subtle changes into their lives through easing physical pain, relieving emotional stress, bringing clarity to their thoughts, and raising consciousness with spiritual awakening and awareness.

Crystal healers cannot tell you what to do, but they may help you realign your own internal energy and channel healing through the crystals to you.

How can the colour of crystals help with healing?

Around the world, various cultures have used the power of colour to heal people.

We even express our emotions in different colours, like “feeling blue”, “seeing red” or “being green with envy”.

The colour of walls can also influence emotions. Restaurants or dining rooms with red walls may stimulate conversation and even the food will seem to taste better. Bedroom walls in pale blue have a calming effect, which is desirable for a restful sleep. And pale green brings tranquillity to spas, clinics, and hospital wards.

Colour healing has been known of for many years. There are seven colours of the spectrum in the rainbow: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet. These colours correspond to the seven main chakras.

What can each of these seven colours of crystal help with?

Each colour has a corresponding meaning.

  1. Red: courage, vitality, stamina, passion, drive and inner strength.
  2. Orange: friendship, family, loyalty, community and belonging.
  3. Yellow: empowerment, self-worth, decisiveness, warmth, and awareness.
  4. Green: renewal, growth, abundance, money, and health.
  5. Blue: trust, speaking the truth, respect, faith, and purification.
  6. Indigo: wisdom, experience, virtue, spiritual mastery and long life.
  7. Purple: intuition, magic, destiny, dreams, and inspiration.

Crystals come in many colours, so it makes sense to collect a variety of them in different shades. In this way, crystals can also be used to aid healing through the actual colour of the stones.

Whether it is the colour or the energetic property of each crystal or stone, they can bring you healing and improve every area of your life.
