Have you seen the pictures of SUP Yoga & thought I would love to have a go at that?

You are loving your yoga & would like a fresh challenge?

You would like to encourage a friend or partner to try yoga & SUP yoga piques their interest?

Or you could be a Yoga teacher looking to widen your teaching repertoire?

All these are great reasons to think that this is the summer when you finally take your Down Dog or your Warrior 2 to a floating yoga mat.

Now you just need to find a class or an opportunity that does not clash with your normal routine in a location that you can get to.

Festival Therapy

One of the developments in festivals whether they be music, arts or with an outdoor theme has been the growth of the well-being offer for attendees. Now most festivals will have an extensive range of yoga and Pilates classes.

There will be opportunities to try different holistic therapies. They may also be speakers who are sharing their knowledge and experiences of the therapy that they practice. There might even be a park run style event for those festival goers who cannot miss their morning running fix. All of these could be a wonderful time to network or try something new.

SUP Yoga & Paddle Boarding

An increasing number of festivals now have a paddle boarding and SUP Yoga sessions for you. We often find that the festival vibe around us may encourage us to try new things. This could be the catalyst for us to try activity in a more anonymous environment than we would at home.

We may be worried that we fall in and get wet or find the practice more difficult than we thought.

Being away in an unfamiliar setting may help us to put those fears to one side & move out of our comfort zone.

We can also find that positivity that surrounds us at a festival can increase our self-confidence. We may also find magical moments amongst the crowds. For example, can there be anything better than taking shavasana on your floating yoga mat whilst you can hear the evening’s main act sound check drifting over the water?

Island Feather

During the summer months, the paddle boarding company Island Feather, based in Southsea offers paddle boarding, sea swimming and SUP Yoga classes. They also provide paddle boarding and SUP Yoga classes at different festivals over the summer. They have a range of experienced instructor who will help you take your first moves onto a SUP board, to paddle or to practice yoga.

Appropriately at Wilderness Festival in Oxfordshire, there will be SUP Yoga classes available. Then at family friendly music and arts, Latitude Festival in Suffolk there will be paddle boarding and sup yoga lessons. At the Armchair Adventure Festival there is a yoga offering included in the ticket price. Finally, at Camp VC a range of well being services are available from very experienced practitioners.

Be Inspired

So, if you have tickets for one of these festivals why not check out the paddle boarding or yoga offer.

You might enjoy it so much you find a new pastime or even be so inspired that you decide to add to your practitioner repertoire. In a future year you could even find yourself teaching at a festival yourself.
