Reese Strikes Gold at Mercers Lake
While most teens were still recovering from prom night selfies and sore feet, Reese was already gearing up for her next big moment and it was far from a glittering ballroom.

After kicking off the weekend with a joyful evening at her school prom, Reese did what champions do best: she switched gears. Less than 24 hours later, she was at Mercers Lake in Redhill, ready to tackle the 3K Open Water Swim, her second-ever lake race, and a serious step up from last year’s 2K distance.

And if the distance wasn’t challenge enough, the conditions were extreme. With air temperatures hitting 32°C and wetsuits off the table, it was a test of grit and endurance from the first splash.

But Reese showed exactly what she’s made of.
The race started dramatically, a kick to the mouth caused a bleed, and throughout the swim, other competitors tugged at her feet. But even in the face of physical pain and fierce competition, Reese stayed focused and strong. Digging deep, she pushed through every stroke.
Her determination paid off.
Reese took home GOLD in the 16-year-old age group, clocking a stunning time of 38 minutes and 50 seconds! A testament to her resilience, mental toughness, and love for the sport.

Between races, Reese found time to reconnect with friends from other clubs, sharing laughs and sunshine in the vibrant atmosphere of the open water community.
We couldn’t be prouder of her courage, her heart, and her golden performance. With Nationals on the horizon, Reese is diving into a demanding month of training and we’ll be cheering every stroke of the way.

Go, Reese!
Your golden future is only just beginning.
