Morning Pauses

To the moment when you first wake up and the world isn’t open yet! Bliss, a stretch and a yawn, maybe a kiss to a loved one, a cup of tea or coffee slowly brewed and a read of a newspaper whilst the birds are tweeting and the sun is shining…ok now it’s a bit too Mary Poppins!

But that energy and feeling could still be created by NOT reaching for the phone or technology and instead giving yourself a beat to consider how you want to feel today.

What does your day look like?

What decisions today will be driven by reactive behaviour instead of proactive behaviour?

A morning pause can be achieved in many different ways that suit the individual as long as it’s a conscious decision to how you want your day to pan out. Try this exercise for at least 30 days and consider the difference to how your days play out.

When you wake up, before you let the world in, just pause. Don’t reach for your phone, take a few breaths, and write down any thoughts that come to mind.

Just be with yourself in the moment.

Recognise how you felt upon waking up. You can use this throughout the day. Take pauses whenever you need them. Take one now, write your thoughts down.
