Pat Yourself On The Back

Do you remember when you were at school and received school reports? Or maybe in your job you regularly receive assessments. Or maybe as a parent or teacher you regularly congratulate other people on their achievements.

When do you acknowledge your own achievements? How often do you pat yourself on the back? Are your achievements in the day, week or year different to what other people might congratulate you for?

This exercise is a version of showing gratitude, it’s gratitude with a twist!

What are you proudest of at the moment? Sometimes, I’m proud of just being able to get up in the morning and tick things off my list, sometimes I’m proud of something personal I achieved and completed.

This exercise might change, maybe it’s something you attempt every few months, but when you really sit and think about what you’ve managed to do, it might surprise you.

Maybe it’s time you patted yourself on your back!

Trace your hand on a page. Fill in all the things you are proud of yourself for. It could be something from the past, it could be something right now, or it could even be just getting out of bed.
