Sleep/Obesity Connection

What has getting enough sleep got to do with weight gain? Well, a lot apparently.

The amount and quality of sleep that you get every night has an impact on your body and your desire to consume food, especially the bad sort.

I know from my own personal experience that sleep can have a huge effect on your mood as well as the types of food your body craves. When I’ve had less than the amount of sleep I need to function properly (which is rather a lot I will admit – I need 8 hours sleep minimum to function as a pleasant individual.) my fuse is short, my general mood is low and I want, need, must have chocolate and a lot of it.

When I feel like this I know that i have neglected my sleep and that to solve my current situation I just need to be good to myself and give my body what it needs, and what it needs is enough sleep.

So next time you find your mood is grumpy, or you are craving lots of sweet or junk food, look back and see what your sleep patterns have been like, and a quick fix may be available to you (providing you are not suffering from insomnia.)
