In the realm of human relationships, complexities often cloud our understanding of love and its adaptability to changing circumstances. Yet, sometimes the purest insights emerge from the most unexpected sources.

Recently, during a session with a client grappling with the aftermath of a breakup, a simple inquiry about his dog’s adjustment to the new living arrangement unveiled a profound revelation about love’s boundless nature. As I delved into a dialogue with the canine companion, what transpired was not just a glimpse into a pet’s perspective, but a profound lesson on the expansiveness of love itself. In this narrative, the dog imparted wisdom that transcends species barriers, offering a refreshing perspective on the ever-evolving dynamics of affection and companionship.

Join me as we explore “The Dog’s Wisdom on Love” and reflect on what our own animal companions might have to say about the nature of love in our lives…

A client asked how his dog felt about living just with him, since he lived with his ex-partner when the dog came into his life.  So, I connected with the dog and after a bit of conversation, I put this question to him.  He said, “Well, it was nice having two parents”.  The dog then shared some visual images of himself rolling over to show his belly, whilst being petted and doted on by two people.

So I asked him: “And how do you feel about living with just one parent now?”  He rolled back over and said, “It’s okay. It’s good”.  I wondered if his parent was concerned that he missed having two people.  The dog instantly heard my thoughts and he said, “The love expands to fit the space!”

I was struck with wonder at how beautiful this concept was.  He meant that the “energy” automatically adjusts and balances to fit the current situation.  I don’t know about you, but I was amazed by this profound piece of wisdom.  Our animals can explain concepts so beautifully and so simply.

What about you?

What do you think your animal companion would say about love?
