3 Full Days of Connection and Empowerment
Reconnect with yourself and find joy in sisterhood at
Burning Woman Festival 2023

Burning Woman is back for the third time from 21 – 23 July 2023 with 3 full days of life-affirming workshops and experiences for women of all ages taking place at a fantastic new venue at Belvoir Castle in Leicestershire.

This women-only festival is a unique experience where guests can immerse themselves in freeing and empowering workshops and talks, mingle and shop in the busy marketplace of magical trade stands, connect with healers, readers, and coaches and enjoy uplifting and entertaining performances.

“My vision for Burning Woman was to create a beautiful heart-space for women to relax, rejuvenate, celebrate, connect, flourish, transform and take time for themselves,” explains Burning Woman’s Creatrix Olivia Beardsmore. “A space where women could feel safe, surrounded by sisterhood and empowered to shine their brightest. Each year the festival is growing and developing and the energy we create is hard to describe.”

Olivia is a veteran of the PR and events industry, having founded and run the Bushcraft & Survival Skills Magazine and The Bushcraft Show. She’s also a published author and a fire-walking instructor and empowerment coach with Firebird Firewalks, who has overseen mass firewalks of over 300 women at the last two Burning Woman Festivals.

Fire walking is just one of the many liberating experiences on offer at Burning Woman. With more than 150 (mostly free) workshops, visitors can go from creative writing to painting, dancing, vision-boarding and breathwork to sound healing, shibari, and tea ceremonies. Some of the highlights of the programme include Kate Lambert’s talk on ‘How female pleasure will save the world’, Velvet Burlesque’s ‘Release your inner glamazon’ burlesque workshop, ‘The Play Portal’ with Bec Fowler & Shelley Sophia, exploring the power of play as medicine for the body, mind, and soul and ‘Know your Flow’ with Adele Wimsett, on how to harness the power of the menstrual cycle.

Throughout the weekend an all-female cast of musicians, poets and dancers will grace the stage with the line-up culminating in two headlining performances on Saturday night by Irish Cabaret and Performance Artists Growler and the Wild Geeze (fresh off the Edinburgh Fringe) and legendary choral and folk music stars the Mediaeval Baebes – after which festival goers will dance the night away at a Neon Goddess Rave.

There truly is something for every woman at Burning Woman including woodland walks, paddle boarding and swimming in the lake, an ice bath, morning dance and yoga and even boxing sessions.

“We are delighted that Belvoir Castle will provide the stunning backdrop for this year’s festival with plenty of space for all of our incredible activities. This land is full of potent magic and history which we will certainly be tapping into over the weekend,” says Olivia.

Burning Woman is an alcohol-free festival which allows participants to fully immerse themselves in deep connection to nature and others, healing, growth and joyful play.

“Burning Woman was a life-changing experience for me,” says Shannon Connolly, who attended the last two festivals, “I came alone and made so many special friends. I’ve never felt so safe, seen and connected with so many women. I laughed, cried, danced, sang and felt so free and alive!”

Burning Woman guests are invited to camp on-site. There are five camping areas this year: Accessible camping, Glamping, Quiet camping, General camping, Caravan & Campervan camping or stay off-site and visit daily to enjoy a phenomenal weekend! Dogs are also welcome – as long as they are well-behaved.
