Cherished Beginnings – Placenta Remedies

What is a placenta? Well… it’s your baby’s first source of nutrition. The morning sickness that 75% of women experience, is the placenta developing to provide your baby with all the important hormones and nutrition it needs to grow for the next few months.

Nowadays, after your baby is delivered the placenta is disposed of with other clinical waste. The practice of ingesting the placenta is a well-known topic in other countries.

This temporary organ can provide for both you and baby long after birth… How? I will tell you.

Do you know about placenta remedies and encapsulation? No? You aren’t alone, as not many people do. So here is a little insight into what I do. I provide remedies to women in the ‘4th trimester’.

(The 4th Trimester is the first 3 months of your baby’s life, where lots of hormonal changes are experienced by the mother)

The placenta can be transformed into creams, balms, capsules, tinctures, smoothies & so much more. The remedies I create have lots of health benefits for the mother and baby postpartum.

For example, there have been reports that after consuming your placenta capsules, most mothers have experienced high levels of energy, increased breast milk supply and a reduction in postnatal bleeding.

Two of the many hormones found in the placenta are Corticotropin-releasing hormone (CRH  – stress releasing hormones) and Oxytocin (the love hormone). Both hormones have a great benefit towards the mother after she has had a baby. The ‘baby blues’ are experienced by 80% of women in the few weeks postpartum. In some studies, ingesting placenta capsules has reduced…even prevented ‘baby blues’ although no solid evidence has been recorded. However, along with many other positive effects, we have seen a huge reduction in PND (post-natal depression)

Although there isn’t a great amount of research done regarding placenta consumption, we believe that this organ that is packed full of hormones and goodness is the gift that keeps on giving.

I am a mother of two sons and two daughters, and I am due my third daughter in September. I wish I had known more about placenta encapsulation with my previous children, as I would have certainly considered this as an option. I will be creating my own placenta remedies this time around.

Until I started my career with placenta remedies, I didn’t realise that so little was known, there are so many benefits and so many mothers are missing out on the opportunity to feel great about themselves after having their baby because, let’s be honest, unless you are a celebrity you don’t feel like putting on make-up and taking a stroll down the red carpet.
