Energy: Are you Charging or Discharging

Stop and think a minute.

How do you really feel?

What about in terms of energy?

Are you charging or discharging?

What habits keep you charged & which ones are draining you?

Here are the basics to remember and focus on:

  1. Food – Eat food that energises you. Increase fresh fruit, vegetables, and salads. Decrease fried foods, sugar, processed foods and too much meat.

  2. Water – Drink more filtered water. Drink less soft drinks, alcohol, coffee, and even fruit juice.

  3. Sleep – Work toward more quality sleep with less late nights, a break from screen time before bed, be in complete darkness, eat heavy meat meals earlier in the day versus later, and a relaxation practice before bedtime like meditation, gratitude, reading, or a bath for example.

  4. Nature – We have forgotten how intricately linked to nature we are. It’s so important to recharge from the energy of the oceans, rivers, beaches, woods, mountains, fields, your garden, a local park, and the sun. Grounding with your bare feet directly on the earth is really powerful. Try to incorporate nature into your daily life even if it is just the sun directly on your face and fresh air in the morning as you start your day.

  5. Movement – Practice movement that inspires you – walking, running, yoga, sports, dance, a gym workout, etc. It should be fun and not a chore. Stretching would be a great thing to incorporate daily for recharging too.

  6. Community – Increase positive relationships and let go of those that don’t serve you. Look at your family, friends, work environment, and other communities you are part of. How can you bring more positive people into your life? Maybe join a new community that inspires you. Easier said than done I know but really important to recognise and action.

  7. Breathwork – This is extremely powerful in regulating your nervous system. There are different methods of breathwork out there but just quiet time for some deep breaths with the intention for bringing something positive into your day or life can be a game changer in regulating and releasing stressors. You may even touch on past traumas that can be released. This is so important for our increasingly stressful lives and especially for mothers who actually hold the nervous system for the family. Twenty minutes a few times a week, at bedtime, or even 5 minutes a day would be awesome.

In the journey toward optimal health and vitality, it’s crucial to reflect on whether we’re charging or depleting our energy. By embracing simple yet powerful habits – from nourishing our bodies with wholesome foods to prioritising restorative sleep and connecting with nature – we can reclaim our vitality and live life fully charged.

Let’s commit to cultivating habits that energise us & letting go of those that drain us, empowering ourselves to thrive in mind, body & spirit.
