HR Help for Holistic Pros

Why Getting Your House in Order Protects Your Practice & Your Peace

As a proud Foyht partner, my mission is to help holistic practitioners protect what they’ve lovingly built, not just energetically, but practically. Because let’s be honest: the world of therapy, healing, and wellness is full of beautiful intentions… but also complex people, sensitive situations, and the occasional unexpected curveball.

And that’s where a little HR support for holistic practitioners goes a long way.

The Reality? People Are Messy

We’ve all been there. Someone joins your team and it’s all good vibes… until it’s not. A boundary gets blurred. A conversation gets avoided. A client complains. A colleague underperforms. And suddenly, what felt like a soul-led sanctuary starts to feel like a stress factory.

That’s where having your HR foundations in place doesn’t just save time, it protects your peace and your business.

Common Pitfalls in Holistic Practices

Here are three things I see regularly in the wellbeing world:

1. No Written Agreements

Trust is beautiful. Contracts are better. They protect everyone and prevent misunderstandings.

A client of mine, a yoga studio owner, had no agreements with her freelance instructors. One walked out mid-term and took half the client base with them. No contract, no recourse, just heartbreak.

2. Blurry Boundaries

Colleagues become friends, friends become flatmates… and suddenly you’re managing emotion, not behaviour. Friendly doesn’t mean boundary-less.

3. Avoiding the Awkward

Most therapists, coaches, and practitioners dread handling employment issues or team conflict. But not addressing small issues early only makes them bigger and messier.

The Mid-Year HR Checklist for Holistic Practitioners

Want to know where you stand with your HR policies as a wellbeing or therapy business? Use this quick checklist designed for holistic practitioners and small wellness brands:

  • Do I have contracts for everyone I pay or collaborate with?
  • Are my policies (grievance, absence, safeguarding) up to date?
  • Would I know what to do if a colleague’s performance dropped?
  • Do my team or co-practitioners know what’s expected, in writing?
  • Am I protecting my business as carefully as I protect my clients?

Until then, protect your practice the way you protect your clients: with love, care, and clear boundaries.

Reflective Prompt

“How am I showing up as a leader in my practice?
Am I creating clarity and confidence, or confusion and compromise?”

Take five quiet minutes with that question. The answers often point to what needs attention next, and that’s where I come in.
