Bringing Mindfulness to Families
My name is Lauren, and I am the founder of The Mindful Hippo. For the past two decades, I have dedicated my career to Early Years and Primary school education across the Middle East, the UK, and Germany.
Throughout this journey, I noticed a significant gap in education – a crucial need for children to learn tools for emotional regulation and self-care.
With a strong interest in mental well-being, I earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. My journey into mindfulness began with a focus on teaching it in schools. However, my passion for supporting children’s mental health quickly expanded to include their parents and the entire family’s well-being.
To gain my MBSR qualifications, I chose the Mindful Academy Solterreno for its high-quality training and esteemed reputation in the field of mindfulness. Today, as a qualified MBSR teacher and a registered member of the International Institute of Complementary Therapists, I am more committed than ever to this cause.
The Mission of The Mindful Hippo
The Mindful Hippo aims to bring mindfulness into the lives of many to alleviate stress and anxiety, improve focus, enhance sleep, and reduce chronic pain. My work involves delivering the eight-week MBSR course, leading mindfulness workshops, and designing bespoke mindfulness activities and guides for families.
Learning to respond to stress instead of reacting can make stressors less overwhelming and reduce the risk of chronic stress-related illnesses.

The 8-Week MBSR Course
The Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) program is a unique eight-week, evidence-based course offering secular, intensive mindfulness training. It is designed not just for stress, anxiety, depression, and pain but also for those who want to integrate mindfulness into their daily lives. Developed in the 1970s by Professor Jon Kabat-Zinn at the University of Massachusetts Medical Centre, the MBSR combines mindfulness meditation, body awareness, mindful movement, and the exploration of behaviour patterns, thoughts, feelings, and actions.
This course is designed to fit into your schedule, taught online for 2.5 hours per week, along with some home practice during the week. The next course will run every Sunday from the 15th of September until the 3rd of November from 7:30pm to 10:00pm (CET) and I am offering 2 FREE spaces in exchange for a testimonial!
To grab one of the two FREE spaces on Lauren’s Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction course and embark on a journey of restoration, ping Sam Rowley (editor of the online Health & Wellbeing Magazine) an email (editor@focusonuk.co.uk) by Friday the 9th of August 2024 saying:
