Training Hard, Competing Fiercely, & Giving Back
It’s been a whirlwind few weeks for Reese Huckle, packed with intense training, fierce competition, and exciting opportunities on the horizon!

As always, she continues to push herself to new limits, proving time and time again that dedication and resilience are key to success.
Training & Challenges
Reese’s latest training block began in the best way possible—an intense yet rewarding week of 50m pool training in sunny Cyprus! With 12 two-hour sessions packed into her schedule, she pushed her endurance and technique to new heights while making unforgettable memories with her teammates.

However, as with all demanding training schedules, challenges arose. On the final day, Reese unfortunately fell ill, battling a chest infection that required a week of antibiotics. But true to her determined nature, she bounced back stronger and more motivated than ever!
Arena League B Final – Cardiff
Fresh off recovery, Reese and her Monson team headed to Cardiff to compete in the Arena League B Final. Against some of the top clubs in the UK, they fought hard and secured an incredible 3rd place finish! A fantastic achievement that highlights their talent, teamwork, and relentless determination.

Nationals Qualifying Window – Sheffield
Next up was the first Nationals qualifying event in Sheffield. While still recovering, Reese gave it everything she had. Although she didn’t set new personal bests this time, she came incredibly close—a testament to her skill and perseverance. Given her impressive record of County-level successes, breaking PBs in such a short window is no easy feat. But in true champion spirit, she has already set her next goal and is prepared to put in the work!
Making Waves in the 1500m
She had her 1500m swim at the weekend and came 2nd with a 7-second PB. While she was a little disappointed she didn’t get a quicker time, this should put her on the English Nationals list for the summer. No guarantee, and it is a waiting game now until 12th May when the window closes—so fingers crossed!

Giving Back to the Sport
Beyond competing, Reese is also making a huge impact as a role model for younger swimmers. At last weekend’s Regional Chaser Event, hosted by Monson, she stepped up—not as a competitor, but as a leader. Acting as Lead Marshall for three sessions, she kept everything running smoothly, ensuring swimmers were in position and offering encouragement to younger athletes. A true ambassador for the sport!
What’s Next?
The road ahead is packed with exciting challenges and opportunities:
- Regionals Prep: With Regionals fast approaching in early May, all focus is on refining training, staying healthy, and reaching peak performance.
- 1500m Showdown: This weekend, Reese takes on a one-chance 1500m race at the London Aquatics Centre (LAC)—fingers crossed for a strong swim!
- South East Relay Team Selection: Reese has been selected for the South East 14-16 years girls’ relay team on April 5th—a huge honour! If the team performs well, they will secure a spot in the National Relay Team at Sheffield this July!
The journey is non-stop, and Reese isn’t slowing down any time soon! A massive thank you to everyone who continues to support her—your encouragement and belief make all of this possible.

Stay tuned for more updates as she powers towards Nationals!
