The Language of Touch

Mizan therapy

Olcote Wellbeing embraces the art of Reflexology and Relaxation, helping you cope with the everyday stresses and strains of modern life. Reflexology is an art thought to have originated in China around 5-6,000 years ago and therapeutic techniques were used on the feet to promote good health. The feet are the mirrors of the body and Reflexology is based on the principle of reflex points on the feet or hands which correspond to each organ, gland, muscular or skeletal structure in the body.

The language of touch is one of the oldest forms of communication in history and is something we all still crave in times of fear, grief, depression or illness. Awareness of the power of touch is growing and many touch therapies (including Reflexology) are widely used in conventional medicine these days to treat pain, ease discomfort and improve the functional working of the body.

Aching backs, and shoulders after a tiring day at work, hunched over a computer or spending most of the day on your feet. Strained leg muscles from overdoing it at the gym, or circulatory problems from a sedentary lifestyle are some of the occupational hazards of our modern western life. Through the power of touch we can learn to take better care of ourselves and reconnect with our mind and body. Taking time to channel healing energy or enjoy a soothing reflexology session can ease some of the day-to-day tensions of life to put us back in touch with ourselves and our priorities, to feel relaxed, re focussed and revitalised.

A reflexology session will start to treat and repair the whole body bringing mind and body together and a sense of grounding.  Energy is constantly flowing through channels within our bodies, like blood travels through our veins. These channels or pathways are known as meridians and Reflexologists work on the reflex points on the feet (or hands) from the meridians as they map down. Where the meridians cross each other there is a ‘hot spot’ and this is referred to as a chakra. There are seven chakras on the body. The base, sacral, solar plexus, heart, throat, brow and crown. At Olcote Wellbeing I will work with you through relaxing treatments to unblock trapped energy and help your chakra points to remain open and charged, helping you feel confident and energised.

As a Reflexologist my aim is to rebalance blocked energies and promote a sense of wellbeing in a relaxing environment. I am a fully insured and registered BSY Advanced Reflexology Practitioner and a Registered Member of the Association of Holistic and Complementary Practitioners. I practice from a fully equipped treatment room in Norfolk. Over the coming months I hope to share with you some insights into Reflexology, yoga and relaxation in our modern and often stressful lives.
