… & Creative Arts Therapies Are Deeply Connected

Lacking confidence and self-belief, feeling undervalued, made to feel inadequate – but deep inside, you know you are so much more than your current position, job role, or whatever title you present today.

Our belief system defines what we think of ourselves, our capabilities, & our appearance.

We can spend days, months, and even years hiding behind a persona of who we think we are – whether in school, college, university, at work, or even at home.

Eventually, this can block our ability to think.

Why do we devalue ourselves in order to live and feel accepted in the environments we find ourselves in?

Connecting with creativity provides an outlet to experience, explore, and reconnect with your belief system in a safe space. It allows you to learn new tools to distinguish between intelligent, rational thoughts and problematic beliefs. Creativity is innate within us all, and learning to channel the creative arts holistically for self-awareness and emotional balance will enable us to become more mindful of our thought patterns and behaviours.

If you want to write creatively, you shouldn’t be confined to a certain standard, as this limits your freedom to express yourself openly, potentially blocking your creativity.

How can you paint freely and express yourself in the moment if you’re constantly visualising the end result, only to feel disappointed if it doesn’t meet that vision?

Similarly, if you can play music by ear, why should you be required to read music to be considered successful?

Of course, if you want to become an expert in any of these fields, there’s nothing wrong with that either. But creativity flourishes best when you’re allowed the freedom to explore without pressure or strict expectations.

Standards, expectations, legislation, environments, and the opinions of others can take away our self-worth, and we live in a society that creates these barriers.

Everyone is unique & individual.

Using various creative arts, you can connect, create, and express yourself. You can use sand play to create and visualise the world you want to live in.

You can add or remove the people you see and want in your life. Creative writing allows us to write letters to people that we may never send, but helps us to remove the barrier of words we can never find. Intuitive art allows us to use shapes, colours, and textures, combining our subconscious with our conscious minds to express our emotions in the moment.

You can stimulate all your senses in one creative activity and feel differently about who you are, where you are, and what you want or don’t want. Exploring and experiencing in this way can encourage your brain to think more positively and make better choices to achieve your goals.

If you can retrain your brain to reduce negative thoughts and reignite passion that you can feel, understand your emotions, and accept the fears that are holding you back, you will be able to start removing the areas that no longer serve you and transform your mindset.

As your thoughts become more constructive, your emotions and feelings can transform, reinforcing positive behaviours, which affirm more optimistic thoughts. Thus, the cycle can continue, increasing your self-confidence and self-worth.If we can establish a creative channel to express ourselves, we can explore and experience different emotions and feelings, deeply connecting us to how we feel and what we think about ourselves.
