The Evolution from Seeker to CBT & Mindfulness Coach

In a world that moves at an ever-accelerating pace, our mental well-being stands as a cornerstone for navigating the complexities of modern life. As we juggle the demands of work, relationships, and personal aspirations, the importance of mental health has never been more pronounced.

As we know people’s mental health has been affected by a number of factors in the past couple of years with the Covid 19 epidemic, Lockdown and more recently the energy crisis.

We are seeing a higher increase within the younger populations of mental health issues related to social media, cyberbullying and them feeling they have to comply behave and look a certain way to fit into society causing stress, anxiety, low self esteem and depression.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is a talking therapy that addresses the way a person thinks and behaves.

It is based on the concept that thoughts, feelings, physical sensations and actions are interconnected, and that negative thoughts and feelings can trap you in a negative cycle.

CBT aims to help you deal with overwhelming problems in a more positive way by breaking them down into smaller parts. You are shown how to change these negative patterns to improve the way you feel.

Unlike some other talking treatments, CBT deals with your current problems rather than on issues from your past it looks for practical ways to improve your state of mind on a daily basis.

Aaron T Becks is globally recognised as the father of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and one of the worlds leading researches in psychopathology.

My own personal journey into CBT and Mindfulness was due to a marriage breakdown some years back  and being in a very dark place. Fortunately, my local GP referred me for CBT sessions where the treatment had a great impact, helped me move forward in life and see things in a different light.

Later, I started to attend a weekly local Mindfulness group where I started to embrace Eastern Philosophy and Buddhism. Working in the Fitness industry, as a Trainer and Exercise Rehabilitation coach, I noticed a lot of my clients suffered with their mental health. Although exercise helped them I wanted to go deeper into the mind  to get a better understanding so I graduated as a CBT and Mindfulness coach with the aim to help as many people as I can combat Mental Health issues and this is where my journey starts today.

As I reflect on the transformative journey that led me to where I am today, I am reminded of the profound impact that intentional self-discovery and personal growth can have on one’s life. Guided by the principles of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and the practice of mindfulness, I have witnessed the incredible power of these tools in reshaping perspectives, managing stress, and fostering resilience. Becoming a coach has not only been a professional evolution but also a deeply personal one, as I’ve learned to navigate the intricate terrain of the mind and share these invaluable insights with others. My hope is that, through the lens of CBT and mindfulness, individuals can find solace, empowerment, and a renewed sense of agency in their own narratives.
