Holistic Wellness is everything.

Also, Holistic Wellness is everything!
What does that mean?!
Without overall Wellness, our quality of life really can plummet. Feeling well really is everything.
Instinctively we all want to feel better, so when our usual level of energy is compromised in some way, we begin our search for options to restore that level of holistic health.
And we now know that true holistic wellness really is all the things.
The list includes, but is not limited to, healthy relationships with:
- Sleep
- Nutrition
- Relationships
- Social life
- Finance
- Movement
- Mindset
- Spirituality
- Sex
- Hormones
- Mental health
- Creativity
- Work
- Purpose
- Love
- Stress
- Home Edit
- Style
- Self Talk
When we experience a gap in one area, we may feel below par, add on a couple more and we might feel a bit gloomy, pile on and we can start to move into a danger zone of depression, desperation and vulnerability.

The amount of information in this space now is overwhelming, and it is easy to get lost and confused about what we need. In an ever expanding market place, ready to tick box whatever we are experiencing and feeling, into a problem in one click, then open a pandora’s box of ‘add to basket’ solutions with the next.
STOP!
At this point it is helpful to triage before we deep dive and follow wherever the algorithm takes us. Some issues are easier to address than others. A minor physical injury for instance, my first stop could be a skillful and trusted physiotherapist, osteopath or GP.

It gets tricky when the issue is something we can’t quite put our finger on, and that collaboration with our usual practitioners hasn’t provided the clarity or effective treatment we were hoping for. For example, general anxiety, unexplained fatigue, unusual perimenopause/menopause symptoms, sleep disruptions and aging just to name a few, can create an unrelenting game of whack-a-mole that is frustrating in the least, and damaging in a worst case scenario.
So let’s take a few steps back.
What does holistic wellness feel like?
For me, the word that comes to mind when I think of how wellness feels in my body, mind and soul, is refreshed.

I like having a word that represents wellness in my mind to anchor me amidst the chaos of the neverending waves of wellness information coming at me literally every time I turn on the tv, open my social media. Even walking through town we are bombarded with billboards and banners marketing the next product, or event, promising to deliver the ‘best version of me’ or deliver ‘inner peace’.
While in essence these are beautiful intentions, we would be well advised to be discerning, and do our due diligence. According to The Global Wellness Institute the global wellness economy reached $6.3 Trillion in 2024, and is forecast to hit $9 Trillion by 2028.
So, this is where I come back to my wellness touchstone ‘refreshed’.
And you can choose any word that resonates with you as a grounding force before wading into the waters of ‘Do I need this (insert product/service/event etc) to feel well?
Next step is a checklist to save me from myself! Lol, I am very knowledgeable in the wellness space, however, I’m also a customer, a client and a person. Possibly because of, rather than in spite of my perpetual fascination with what constitutes wellbeing, I’m even more persuadable and receptive to new ideas and anecdotal reports of positive outcomes. And there are positive outcomes. But how to filter and sift the offerings and come to a logical decision when our wellness (and our wallets – our relationships with which also greatly impact our wellness!) are on the line?
Checklist
- Do I currently have a wellness problem that needs a solution?
- Consider if I have a serious wellness issue, or am I ‘wellness shopping’ for fun – which is also ok! Just be aware and proceed accordingly
- Will this (insert wellness offering) add value for me in a positive way?
- Just because I don’t have a ‘problem’ per se, doesn’t mean that there isn’t a benefit
- Is this (insert wellness offering) legit?
- Check online reviews and trustpilot ratings
- Is this (insert wellness offering) worth the price tag? And do I feel (insert your wellness anchor) about spending £??? on this?
- Where is my headspace right now – am I capable of selecting wisely right now or am I being reactively impulsive?
So, the juxtaposition and paradoxical situation we find ourselves in is:
How much do I need or want to invest; both of time and money, into wellness in order to attain what is arguably our birthright – Holistic Wellness?
The answer to this is individual & personal.
I recommend going back to the basics before double clicking the side of the phone to hear that dopamine inducing ‘ping’!

The Big Three.
- Sleep
- Nutrition
- Movement
Then consider the earlier list above, and mindfully consider the course of action that is best for you.
There are some wonderfully effective products out there, and life changing, uplifting experiences we can choose to participate in.
The key is to examine, review and evaluate the options, then make deliberate decisions. Consult your anchor to distill and discard debris.
For me; Will (insert wellness offering) leave me feeling refreshed?
Now, go forth into the Well-der-ness, sure footed, checklist armed & selection ready!
